How Leadstere handles personal data
This notice explains what personal information Leadstere collects from readers of leadstere.com, why we collect it, the lawful basis on which we process it, how long we retain it, and how you can exercise your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Leadstere is an independent editorial publication based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data-protection law, Leadstere is the data controller for personal information collected via leadstere.com. You can contact us at [email protected] or by post at our Sheffield address, available on request.
2. What we collect
Leadstere is primarily a read-only publication and does not require an account. We may collect: (a) limited technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referrer and pages requested, recorded automatically by our hosting infrastructure; (b) cookie preferences, stored locally in your browser; (c) the content of any email you send us, if you contact us directly.
3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)
Technical access data is processed on the lawful basis of our legitimate interests in operating, securing and maintaining the site (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Optional analytics, where you have accepted them through the cookie banner, are processed on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) and PECR Regulation 6). Correspondence you send to us is processed to respond to your enquiry, also on the basis of legitimate interest.
4. How long we keep it
Hosting access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and diagnostics, then deleted or aggregated. Cookie preferences persist in your browser until you clear them. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to address your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up, then deleted unless retention is required for legal reasons.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share technical access logs only with the infrastructure providers that host the site, acting as processors on our instructions. Where you have consented to optional analytics, anonymised usage data is shared with the analytics provider for that purpose. Where you click through to an operator’s site, that operator becomes the controller for any data you provide to them; their own privacy notice applies.
6. International transfers
Where any processor is located outside the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request correction or erasure, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Children
Leadstere reviews real-money gambling content. The site is intended for UK adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
9. Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the colophon date in the footer. This notice was last reviewed in May 2026.
